Forefoot pain –pain felt in the front part of the foot, around the ball of the foot and the toes– is a common problem for people of all ages. Showing up gradually or suddenly, it can make everyday activities like walking, running, or standing uncomfortable. Metatarsalgia
Metatarsalgia is one of the most frequent causes of forefoot pain. It involves inflammation and discomfort in the metatarsal bones–the long bones just behind the toes.
Common triggers include:

- High arches, fat pad atrophy, or uneven weight distribution
- Sudden increases in activity levels
People often describe the pain as a sharp/burning or aching sensation in the ball of the foot, especially during movement.
Neuroma
